Lies are the commonest sin we commit. Hold on a second, I’m not here to preach, otherwise, I would have dressed in my suit and tie, with my bodyguard behind. I don’t even resemble a pastor. But it’s still the commonest…(anything you decide to call it)
Many times, we have lied, replied ‘it’s alright, I have nothing against you’ when our heart is full of anger. We have said ‘I forgive you’ to our friends when knowing sincerely that we are lying, that we didn’t forgive talk more of forgetting.
How many persons are you holding prisoner? One, two or more?
How many did you keep locked away in the cells of your heart, bonded in chains?
Please don’t give me the ‘we forgive but don’t forget’ line.
Is it Forgiveness when you don’t talk to the person nor respond to his greeting? Is it forgiveness when you feel like throwing up whenever your paths cross?
Should it be forgiveness when you get worked up at the mere sight of the person?
That’s how individuals end up wreaking their life. Bearing grudges with every Tom, Dick, and Harry out there.
I know, calm down I really understand. They must have done some pretty bad stuff to you, hurt you, betrayed your trust perhaps or even stabbed you at the back. Come on! I know all that, humans can be so unpredictable.
But hold on, have you asked the difference between you and ‘your prisoners?’ Obviously, you are in prison too. A victim of your anger. Both of you are obviously wearing a uniform, uniform of hurt, of pain and anger.
Perhaps it’s time to break free, to set yourself lose. And true freedom can only be achieved when you release your prisoner. Those grudges you have been bearing for ages, those anger you have kept bottled up in your heart, it’s time to set them free unless you love the bondage, then… enjoy the ride. (shrugs).
Depriving yourself of good sleep, giving ‘anger for another’ a furnished space in your heart, a comfortable apartment, even providing food and drinks.
There is no award or medal for the best in bearing grudges or the person with the highest number of ‘prisoners’. Ordinary copper no one is ready to give you. So what’s really the essence?
I wouldn’t know but I love to sleep and don’t see any reason for you to lose good sleep watching over prisoners even though you are not a jailer (unless you want and love to be one). Release your prisoners if you are holding any and please don’t take new ones, it doesn’t pay.
Just for the record, none of us is leaving here alive!
